Bend Craftsman Bungalow

Story:  Our clients had lived in their Bend Craftsman Bungalow for a few months and sought help with decisions on paint and how to bring color into their existing monochromatic furniture. This bi-cultural family wanted their home to reflect the richness of their travels and some specific textiles of Ecuador. Their budget was for a refresh - an update, utilizing most of their existing furniture.

Scope:  We love to start with the architecture of the room(s); in this example, angled walls and a dated kitchen all in an open concept great room. We knew the budget wasn't going to allow for a kitchen remodel, so we suggested painting the island that faced the living and dining spaces, and replacing the brown old tiles with a reclaimed wood bar. We also toned down the multi colored walls with two shades of grey, and fresh trim. With the design budget, we integrated many of the couple's travel treasures, and showcased an intricate embroidery framed piece to anchor the dining space. Using this heirloom art, we splashed the vibrant colors around in the rug, textiles, decor and art. We purchased storage furniture to corral the TV and components, enhanced the entry, installed drapes, existing and new art and decor, and added industrial lighting to complete the global/industrial vibe.
