Saratoga Modern Bedrooms
STORY: Our client built a spectacular custom home in the Saratoga hills. Modern elements of glass, steel, and tile embraced the gigantic black stone fireplace and sweeping views of hill and valley. After getting the public spaces staged, Amy and Gilan came into the kids' rooms to personalize their rooms emphasizing each sibling's particular interests, whether it be music, football or dogs.
SCOPE: Three student-friendly rooms were designed using a combination of new and existing furniture. An open foyer between rooms was designed with a teen hangout in mind, convertible sofa for extra guests, bean bag chairs and electronics for video watching and gaming. The daughter's room was furnished from scratch. We selected a Design Within Reach mid century full sized bed, which allowed room for a parent to sit and share a night time story. The desk area was selected from Restoration Hardware's Avalon collection, emphasizing function with elegant forms. The furniture selection was mindful of the growth of the occupant, keeping it fun for an elementary student, but sophisticated enough to carry her through high school.
